RIOS-FLOREZ, Jorge Alexander y CARDONA-AGUDELO, Viviana. Learning processes of children aged 6 to 10 years old that were born prematurely. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.2, pp.1071-1085. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.14213241115.
This study on the learning processes of children born prematurely aims to establish their academic performance characteristics of these children based on their learning activities, which was then compared to the academic performance of a group of children aged between 6 and 10 years old that were born full-term. The sample is selected using a non-probabilistic and voluntary model, with a total of 160 participants, divided into a clinical group of 80 children that were born prematurely and another group of 80 children that were born full-term. A quantitative approach was used for this research along with a comparative-correlational design. This was achieved through applying a subtest with the two groups that evaluated their writing, reading, arithmetic and language processes. The results showed that comprehension and phonological discrimination were the main difficulties demonstrated by the children that were born prematurely as well as mental arithmetic processes.
