REYES, ÓSCAR JAVIER y RINCON, JHON FREDY. INFLUENCE OF CHARACTERISTICS OF MINERAL FILLER IN THE RESISTANCE OF ASPHALT MIXTURE. Rev.EIA.Esc.Ing.Antioq [online]. 2009, n.11, pp.93-103. ISSN 1794-1237.
The main objective of the research was to determine the effect in the indirect tension strength when replacing mineral filler by cement, lime, and ash at different percentages. Materials were first characterized (aggregates, asphalt, lime, cement and fly ash). Then, using the Marshall method, was determined the optimum percentage of asphalt. Gradation m10 and asphalt with penetration 60/70 was chosen for the study, similarly, mineral filler was replaced on the percentages of 0, 25, 50, 75, 100. Strength was increased 58 % by substituting 100 % of mineral filler for lime, from 22 % to replace 50 % filler by fly ash, and 5 % by 75 % replacing cement, were the main findings of this study. In addition, it was found in relation to the deformation test, for all percentages of replacement of lime and cement, the mixture supports higher deformation to the maximum load. Whereas that, for replacement of fly ash, only 100 % replacement of the deformation increased with the maximum load.
