Resumen
FILIPPETTI, Vanessa Arán y LOPEZ, Mariana B.. Latent Structure of Executiue Functions in Adolescents: Factorial Inuariance across Sex. Av. Psicol. Latinoam. [online]. 2017, vol.35, n.3, pp.615-629. ISSN 1794-4724. https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/apl/a.4724.
This work aimed at (i) analyzing the latent structure of Executive Functions (EF) in adolescents and (ii) testing factorial invariance (configural, metric, scale, structural, and residual) between the sexes. We worked with a sample of 125 adolescents aged 11-15 years of both sexes, who were administered different EF tasks. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Multi-group CFA (MGCFA) analyses were used. CFA supported the structure of three separate but related factors: (i) wor king memory, (ii) cognitive flexibility, and (iii) inhi bition. Furthermore, MGCFA revealed that three-factor structure is invariant between the sexes, allowing for a comparison between the groups with reference to the components that were found. Finally, Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) revealed significant differences in the factor of shifting in favor of girls. Results are discussed in terms of the dimensional nature of the construct in adolescents and of the differences in cognitive performance according to sex.
