Resumen
ALVAREZ-CALDERON, Carlos Enrique y NAMEN-MESA, Eduardo. South Pole Geopolitics: Colombia's needs and interests in the Antarctic Treaty. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.28, pp.721-748. Epub 11-Mayo-2020. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.521.
After outer space and the ocean floor, the Antarctic continent is humanity's last relatively unexplored frontier. Undeniably, military developments, ensuing explorations, and the establishment of research stations have driven a steady increase in the geopolitical importance of the South Pole, placing Antarctica at the center of the states' strategic considerations. Given that the dynamics of Antarctic geopolitics echo others in the international system, this could be the right moment for Colombia to have a vision of the future in this regard and implement concrete actions to project the development of State interests towards other latitudes, as other states have historically done.
