Military forces are at the forefront of technological innovations; this allows them to exercise greater control, protection, and security in the territory. This article presents a preliminary review of the worldwide technological advances by examining the news in each country's official web pages. The information collected was categorized into 18 areas to identify trends. These innovations provide effective technical tools for mission fulfillment. The most advanced categories are vehicles, weapons (short and long-range), and defense, followed by aircraft, communication, training, and logistics. Growth is forecasted in the areas of robots, sensors, and cybersecurity. Countries such as Russia, China, and the United States have more innovations, and human and economic capital, the others can be classified as followers.
