MARTINEZ-QUINTERO, Felipe. MEMORY MEDIATIONS: ART AGAINST POLITICAL VIOLENCE IN COLOMBIA. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp.106-123. ISSN 2011-4532. https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2020.22.1.7.
Objective.
This article analyzes artistic practices as mediation against political violence in Colombia.
Methodology.
A first moment of historical and documentary inquiry is proposed to place some predominant features of art practices since the 1970s. Subsequently, two case studies are delimited: the art projects of Juan Manuel Echavarria and Erika Diettes, therefore, analyses of the interviews and semiotic approximations of their creative projects are carried put.
Results.
The two referents analyzed contribute to a renewed assessment of the relationship between art and politics, as well as the scope of the testimonial as a narrative central concept of the experience of violence.
Conclusion.
Artistic practices configure not only representations of political violence, but also particular forms of recording, classifying and transmitting culturally their collective effects and implications.
