REYES-ALBARRACIN, Fredy Leonardo; MEZA-MAYA, Clara Victoria y GOMEZ-MONTANEZ, Pablo Felipe. Confessional representation from the judicial truth in the narratives of a paramilitary member: the genocide of the Union Patriotica. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.139-162. Epub 04-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2011-4532. https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2022.24.2.8.
The article analyzes the testimonies given by the demobilized paramilitary commander Éver Veloza García of the “bloque bananero” registered on the free versions that configure the transitional model of Justice and Peace with the purpose of understandikng the systematic violence that paramilitarism exerted against leaders and members of Unión Patriótica of the Urabá region. The methodological design is based on the model developed by Leigh A. Payne, which allows identifying the narrative twists that convert the testimonies of Veloza García into forms of confessional representation, whose enunciative transformations configure different type of stories. It is concluded that the confessional representation of the perpetrators is necessary to promote a public debate on violence between different actors in the paramilitary case: mass media, victims, survivors, Human Rights organizations and society as a whole.
