In recent years, female entrepreneurship has increased considerably worldwide and the case of Mexico is not the exception. Although the contribution of women entrepreneurs in the economic development of the country is acknowledged, literature on female entrepreneurship is still scarce. The main objective of this work is to conduct a review of the literature on entrepreneurship of women in Mexico, in order to identify which are the factors that rise female entrepreneurship. A documentary research was carried out, reviewing fourty-four scientific studies carried out in the Mexican context. The main finding shows that the entrepreneurial woman possesses abilities that influence her entrepreneurship such as work experience, liking for activities and less fear of failure; family or friends represent an important source of funding and generally they start from different socioeconomic needs such as supporting family income, improving their standard of living, among others.
