Interpenetrating polymer networs from modified castor oil - based polyurethane and polystyrene: miscibility and mechanical properties as a function of the composition. Rev. ion [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.2, pp.45-50. ISSN 0120-100X.
Polyurethane-polystyrene IPN materials of various compositions were prepared by simultaneous polymerization of styrene, divinil benzene, modified castor oil and isophorone diisocianate under equal conditions of curing temperature. Swelling equilibrium, dynamical mechanical thermal analysis and stress-strain tests were performed. The results were analyzed indicating the occurrence of morphological changes as a function of IPN composition. Phase inversion seems to occur at 40% polyurethane in the network. At the point of phase inversion a significant changes in mechanical properties were observed.
