Hydrotreating process is one of the most important technologies in the oil refining industry since makes possible to meet the strict sulphur and aromatic specifications for diesel and gasoline. In this process reactions for sulphur removal (hydrodesulphurization), nitrogen removal (hydrodenitrogenation) and aromatic hydrogenation occurs simultaneously. The diesel hydrotreating process was studied at pilot plant, using as feedstocks diesel and mixtures of diesel with light cycle oil and Jet. A fixed bed reactor packed with commercial hydrotreatment catalyst was used for experimentation at temperatures between: 300- 450°C, Hydrogen/Feedstock ratio of 200-700Nm3/m3, space velocities of 0.3 - 1.5h-1 and a constant pressure of 5.5MPa. This study allowed the development of pseudo-kinetics relations in function of the operating conditions and feedstock properties describing every main reaction that take place during diesel hydrotreating. The kinetics parameters and reaction orders were calculated through an optimization algorithm. The parity results obtained between the experimental and calculated concentrations of sulphur, nitrogen and aromatics showed a correlation ratio higher than 0.9 in most of the cases and a good repeatability of the calculation method.
