Anaerobic co digestion from cattle, pig manure and horse manure as an alternative to improve the energetical potential in household digesters. Rev. ion [online]. 2019, vol.32, n.2, pp.29-39. Domestic digesters have been used for the management and energy recovery of manures in anaerobic mono-digestion processes. However, knowledge regarding biogas yields from the co-digestion of manure is limited. Therefore, by means of an experimental design using synergy (Φ) as an indicator, this research aims at determining the appropriate mixing ratios for anaerobic digestion of manure, contributing to the obtainment of a better use of both the digester and the waste. In this research, a study was conducted on mixtures of dilutions of bovine, equine and pig manure, taking into account as response variables potential for biomethanization (BMP) and synergy (Φ). The results showed that in the mono-digestion process, in ascending order, the biomethanization potentials were 10.44 Nl CH4/kgVS; 14.50 Nl CH4/ kgVS; and 17.09 NlCH4/ kgVS for bovine, porcine and equine manure respectively. The mixture of manures (binary and ternary), presented synergies Φ> 1, and consequently better biomethanization potentials were obtained. The greatest synergy (3.63) was presented by the equine-bovine manure mixture in a proportion 35.5: 64.5 (% w) respectively. Based on the energy potential, users of domestic biodigesters will be able to have different co-digestion scenarios for manure mixtures, for a better yield in biogas production.
