Resumen

SAN MARTIN NUNEZ, Abelardo  y  GUERRERO GONZALEZ, Silvana. REFORMULATION MARKERS IN SANTIAGO DE CHILE PRESEEA CORPUS. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.2, pp.15-38. ISSN 0120-338X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v29n2.60187.

This papers aims to widen our variationist approach (Rojas et al., 2012) as to the reformulation markers of Spanish spoken in Santiago de Chile. For that purpose, particles fulfilling that function were identified in a sample of 54 interviews that make up PRESEEA Sociolinguistic Corpus of Santiago de Chile. In the analysis, the concepts and the classification of discourse markers by Martín Zorraquino and Montolío (1998), Martín Zorraquino and Portolés (1999), Portolés (2001); and Loureda and Acín (2010) were taken into account. Particles fulfilling the function of reformulation were identified according to several subtypes: explanation, rectification, recapitulation, and detachment. Based on the functional commutability (semantic and pragmatic) of these markers, a quantitative analysis was carried out according to the variables of informants' sex, age, and educational level. In general, the results show that the particles o sea, igual, and al final, as well as the subtype of explicative reformulating markers, are the most frequent. Informants' age is the most noticeable variable in the use of said particles.

Palabras clave : Discourse markers; reformulation; discursive variation; sociolinguistics; Chilean Spanish.
