Resumen
ZAMUDIO JASSO, Victoria. Opinions and points of view in students' academic texts about literature. Leng. [online]. 2016, vol.44, n.1, pp.35-59. ISSN 0120-3479.
This paper reports the findings of a study on how undergraduate Spanish literature students express their opinions and points of view in literary analysis essays. The study was theoretically and methodologically based on the Attitude System as presented by the appraisal framework (Martin and White, 2005). Twenty essays were analyzed and, in order to explore the influence of academic literacy in the expression of opinions, ten of these essays were written by sophomore students and ten by senior students. The findings reveal important differences both in the type of opinions expressed and in the entities valued by the students. These differences show how academic literacy and familiarity with their academic community modify the way students establish a critical stand in their texts
