During the 19th century, Florence Nightingale was already promoting the study and control of the environmental causes of disease, and stated that a healthy setting was necessary to apply adequate Nursing care.

Given that they are the most numerous group among healthcare professionals, nurses are present in the comprehensive care of individuals, communities, and the environment; and their role is vitally important in supporting initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and reduced impact of climate change.

It is known that printing journals on paper is related to deforestation when using trees as raw material; a high-impact strategy to diminish greenhouse gas emissions and water pollution is the preservation of forests through practices like the use of recycled paper.

The Investigación y Educación en Enfermería journal, recognizing that Nursing is a holistic profession, which seeks to care for people, commuities, and future generations to be healthier, as of this number will print its copies only on recycled paper, thus, hoping to contribute with this green initiative to make ours a more sustainable world.
