Resumen
LABRADA HERNANDEZ, Geisy; PEREZ MARQUES, Celia María y BIDOT MARTINEZ, Irina. DO PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS GET OLD? THE ZOOMORPHISMS OF VOCABULARIO CUBANO (1921): A CENTURY LATER. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2022, n.81, pp.89-109. Epub 16-Feb-2023. ISSN 0120-5587. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n81a04.
The paper analyzes the current use of 34 zoomorphisms extracted from Constantino Suárez’s Vocabulario cubano, a century after its publication. For this purpose, these expressions have been compared in later dictionaries, in the web site webcorp.org.uk and from surveys. The analysis has taken into account phraseological variation, semantic change and some preferences in the use of these zoomorphisms today. Among the results, the presence of lexical variants and the conservation, in more than 65 % of the expressions, of the meaning collected by Suárez in 1921 stand out.
Palabras clave : zoomorphism; phraseological variation; semantic change; phraseology; Cuban Spanish.
