Colombia's armed conflict has been plagued by the fight to control the land. As part of the measures to guarantee the rights of victims of this armed conflict, the Special Jurisdiction of Land Restitution was created in 2011 to reaffirm the rights of victims of dispossession and forced abandonment. This work reviews the first 198 court rulings published by this institution to get a global view of these decisions, specifically regarding the type of damage suffered by claimants, the motives or means used to provoke such damage, and the impact of the concept of the opponent on reinstating rights and the process of land restitution itself.
