The article addresses the family and its new perspectives in Colombia. Using analytical tools of social sciences, types of families and their particularities by region are examined. Their legal recognition is analyzed due to their decisive role in the construction of society. Their implications in our environment, characterized by economic, legal and cultural globalization, are also studied.
