Resumen
DELFINO, Gisela; SOSA, Fernanda y ZUBIETA, Elena. Internet usage in Argentina: Gender and age as variables associated to the digital divide. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.2, pp.100-123. ISSN 0121-3261. https://doi.org/10.14482/indes.25.2.10961.
The first studies that investigated the use of the Internet revealed the existence of a digital divide between those who had and those who did not have physical access to the Internet. It was held the assumption that mere accessibility ensured inclusion. The interest then turned to how people use the Internet after gaining access. An empirical study was carried on to analyze the use of the Internet in Argentina and the differences in terms of sex and age as variables associated with the digital divide. The study is descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional, based on a representative sample of adults (n = 1145). The results show the mass internet connection and the differences in use between men and women, and generations. It ratifies the hypothesis of the digital divide showing a greater connection and use among the younger.
