CASTANEDA-ALVAREZ, Germán D.; GUTIERREZ-ESPINOSA, Mariana Catalina y SANTAMARIA-PEREZ, Fredy R.. Feeding of stripped catfish, Pseudoplatystoma metaense (Buitrago-Suárez y Burr 2007) fingerlings: change to inert diet. Orinoquia [online]. 2014, vol.18, suppl.1, pp.198-202. ISSN 0121-3709.
To determine the effects of live food change (Artemia salina) to inert diet, over growth and survival, at the end of the larval stage of stripped catfish, Pseudoplatystoma metaense, four hundred fifty fingerlings of 20 days post-hatching were distributed in two treatments into a closed recirculation system and feed for fifteen days with (1) fish paste or (2) bovine heart paste. Statistical differences (p<0.01) were found between fish paste and bovine heart paste for weighs gain (504.4±365.6Vs 999.8±404.7mg) and length gain (6.7±0.5 Vs 8.1±0.5), nevertheless, no statistical differences were found in survival (80.0±3.5% Vs 91.6±7.6%). The types of food affect the growth but not the survival, obtaining the best performance with bovine heart paste.
