Resumen
DULCICH, Federico. Developing and adopting technology: The International Division of Labour’s new dichotomy?. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2018, vol.37, n.74, pp.315-352. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v37n74.57488.
The structuralist doctrine of economic thought has always contemplated the problem of how countries specialise in terms of the international division of labour as an obstacle that hinders periphery countries’ economic development. The purpose of this paper is to rethink the problem posed by classical structuralism, restructuring it based on the development vs. adoption of technology dichotomy. Recently, developed countries have become international specialists in technology provision, while the technologically dependent industrialization of developing countries has generated unfavourable terms of trade (due to the concentrated nature of the technology available on an international level), which affects their development prospects.
