Resumen

PULIDO-FERNANDEZ, Juan Ignacio  y  LOPEZ-SANCHEZ, Yaiza. DESTINATION VALUE CHAIN AS AN INNOVATIVE TOOL FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE SUSTAINABILITY OF TOURISM POLICIES. THE SPANISH CASE. Innovar [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.59, pp.155-176. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v26n59.54369.

The concept of the destination value chain can build a framework for innovative analysis of tourism from a holistic and integrated perspective, as well as identify policies to be formulated in order to incorporate sustainability as a strategic variable for tourism management and the positioning of destinations in the market. To demonstrate the validity of this tool, we have considered the case of Spain, one of the main tourist destinations in the world with well-established tourist areas and a model that scientific literature properly describes as obsolete and exhausted, and that requires of a reinvention. For doing this, there has been a Delphi analysis, with national experts of the highest level, in order to identify the drivers or influencing factors on the generation of value from the perspective of sustainability. On a second stage, this will allow the designing of a strategic agenda of policies aimed at enhancing the country's ability to create value throughout the chain.
