Although there is a significant body of literature addressing the importance of talent management for innovation, few studies particularly focus on tourism companies. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify the particularities of talent management and its impact on business innovation practices within the hospitality industry in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. This work explores what qualities set a place towards innovation and how companies should incorporate these considerations into their talent management strategy. For this purpose, 16 structured surveys were applied to human resources managers or professionals working for firms from the hospitality sector. The data collected was coded using Atlas. ti 8 software. Result analysis indicates that chain hotels are more likely to implement talent management strategies and that they also introduce a greater number of activities for encouraging innovation. In addition, a positive relationship between talent management and innovation (0.22) was confirmed. Based on this analysis, we propose some talent management alternatives for companies from the studied sector. Finally, we conclude that talent management contributes to better business results by promoting innovation activities that generate value for organizations.
