Resumen

VERGARA TAMAYO, CARLOS ANDRÉS  y  ORTIZ MOTTA, DIANA CAROLINA. CONTRIBUTION TO LOCAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CDM PROJECTS IN THE BIOMASS POWER GENERATION SECTOR: CASO INCAUCA S.A.. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.2, pp.161-182. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.2218.

The statement made by the international community in the mid-twentieth century against the recognition of the phenomenon of climate change, led to proposals from the community to create mechanisms oriented to control and the reduce its causes. One of these proposals is the Kyoto Protocol, which aims at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that cause global warming. This protocol outlined three initiatives, but only one of them involves the participation of developing countries as in the case of Colombia; they are the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects. In this sense, the objective of this document is to understand the contributions in terms of local sustainable development, from the multi-criteria methodology AHP for the cogeneration CDM project and fuel substitution of Ingenio del Cauca SA, registered with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC.) this paper concludes that there is no significant difference between the situation "with the project" and the situation "without the project", in other words, the contribution to the social development of the Municipality of Miranda (Cauca), is not determined by the implementation of the CDM project, however comprehensively analyzing the ranking of the two evaluated alternatives is evident that stakeholders prefer the situation before the project than with it.

Palabras clave : Local sustainable development; CDM; Climate change; Kyoto Protocol; Multi-criteria analysis.
