Resumen

BACELAR DA CRUZ URPIA, Arthur Gualberto; SARTORI, Rejane; SANTOS DELGADO, Ana Alexandra  y  PARDO CUEVA, Mariuxi. Knowledge Exchange in a Technology-Based Business Incubator in Ecuador. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.2, pp.91-115.  Epub 15-Dic-2023. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.6754.

The objective of this study was to investigate how the knowledge exchange process occurs in a technology-based business incubator. This research adopts an exploratory-descriptive approach with a qualitative focus. The method employed was the case study. The study focused on a technology-based business incubator located in the province of Loja, in southern Ecuador. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with incubated companies. The interview script was developed based on elements identified in knowledge exchange models found in the consulted literature. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques. The results demonstrate that knowledge exchange in technology-based business incubators is influenced by several variables, including knowledge, knowledge source, recipient, context, and channel. The factors influencing this process include alliances established by incubated companies and the incubator, particularly with educational and research institutions. Interactions within the incubator and motivations related to innovation-seeking also play a significant role. Additionally, the environments used by incubated companies for interactions and information sharing, as well as the knowledge shared among these companies, predominantly relate to the development of their businesses.
