TARDUCCI, Gabriel et al. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LEVEL OF EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PATTERN IN BALCARCE, ARGENTINA. Hacia promoc. Salud [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.2, pp.89-98. ISSN 0121-7577. https://doi.org/10.17151/hpsal.2016.21.2.7.
Objective: To know the physical activity patterns of a population and to identify the relationship between the level of physical activity and the approved years of schooling. Materials and methods: Population, 2,177 individuals between 15 and 64 years of age both sexes, distributed in 5 age ranges. A structured self-administered questionnaire based on recommendation of the Country wide Integrated noncomunicable diseases Intervention Program (CINDI), of the WHO was applied. Variables analyzed: Level of schooling, level of work dependence, physical activity at work (PAW), leisure time physical activity (LTPA), transportation physical activity (TPA). The qualitative variables were tested by chi square test. Results: The level of schooling achieved shows a significant relationship with the level of LTPA. The prevalence of LTPA in males was 65% and in women 69%. The population is mostly inactive in their free time. Conclusion: The years of schooling are inversely related to the level of physical activity at work and directly related with the level of leisure time physical activity.
