Resumen
TORRES-AYALA, Daniela. Public History. A Perspective for Thinking and Rethinking Historical Work. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2020, n.38, pp.229-249. ISSN 0121-8417. https://doi.org/10.15446/hys.n38.80019.
Public history is, above all, a framework of possibilities and relationships whose main objective is to democratize the production and dissemination of historical knowledge by bringing together diverse and plural citizens to create, through common efforts, other possible historical narratives. This commitment to the dislocation of production and dissemination of historical knowledge and traditional historical work through collaboration between professionals in the social sciences and citizens increasingly more interested in their past and present, is what gives public history its main characteristic, gives it a public character. Thus, the main objective of the text is to approach public history as a field within the discipline of history, which from its multiple proposals, dilemmas and possibilities poses important challenges for history professionals to make history a discipline that is more accessible, democratic and close to the public, which makes it necessary to think and assume individual methods and approaches in a field in which experiences are as varied as the themes and forms of research and historical intervention.
