PAEZ SANDOVAL, Claudia. Eroticism as Politics of the Intimate in the Short Story "Valle Alto" [High Valley] by Yolanda Oreamuno. La Palabra [online]. 2017, n.31, pp.161-175. ISSN 0121-8530. https://doi.org/10.19053/01218530.n31.2017.7277.
This paper analyzes the short story "Valle alto" [High Valley] (1946) by the Costa Rican writer Yolanda Oreamuno (1916-1956), focusing on the treatment of feminine sexuality explored by the author, framed by feminist theories of the first half of the XX century in Latin America, and in consideration of the discussion on public-national identity that can be observed in the Generation of the Forties in Costa Rica. In this analysis we will observe how this issue of identity is questioned in Oreamunos short story, presenting a form of subjectivity inserted in another dimension of existence: the private-national.
