The goal of this research paper was to know why and how some countries allow political participation of children or adolescents. Thus, it is a comparative analysis of Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru. Some possible answers were designed considering: domestic laws about the children's rights, public spaces for promoting their participation and the definition of some terms. And it was used three variables for analyzing political rights: the right to vote, to participate and to associate. Moreover, data analyzed was constitutions, specific laws, results of surveys applied by UNICEF, solicitudes on line to government from Paraguay and a literature review. As a conclusion, Argentina and Ecuador are the only countries that allow adolescents the right to vote. However, the laws, the political will of its rulers, and organizations of children and adolescents, are factors that allow the implementation of the political rights of children and adolescents in those countries.
