GARCIA, Matías. Capital accumulation process in peasants The case of the Bolivian horticulturists from Buenos Aires (Argentina). Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2011, vol.8, n.66, pp.47-70. ISSN 0122-1450.
The process of capitalization of peasants is -at best- to be associated with the emergence of a small rural bourgeoisie. Urban-industrial capitalism is adopted as the standard reference. Thus, the study of the mechanisms for the specific functioning of agricultural activities becomes unnecessary. Reality shows that capitalization of peasants is a more complex process than it is normally thought. The purpose of this article is to describe and characterize how a group of Bolivian peasants during a process of disintegration discovers a new area of opportunities after migrating to Argentina -Buenos Aires Horticultural Area- and how they acquire economic mobility and differentiation as capitalist producers, on the basis of accumulation strategies preserving farm elements. Specifically, we want to identify domestic and productive strategies that have allowed socio-economic promotion, capitalization and differentiation in a relatively short time period.
