Resumen
CORRALES-ROA, Elcy. Evolution of agrarian structure and socio-productive transformation of rural landscape in Riosucio and Supía (Caldas, Colombia) from the XIX century's second half. Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2011, vol.8, n.67, pp.153-179. ISSN 0122-1450.
There has been a recent development in sustainable agriculture, promoted by indigenous and peasant organizations, which have proven to be viable in economical, environmental and cultural terms in the municipalities of Riosucio and Supía in western Caldas. However, the land is presented as a constraint for growth. The events that have historically determined the arrangement of agrarian structure and land access for different actors, and regarding the process of family producers sector formation who are the target of the proposals above are reviewed. Turning points, socio-productive transformations and adaptive strategies developed by producers, which could explain their stay in the area, are indicated. This research begins on the late XIXth century when the main features of social and productive occupation are defined. The presence of indigenous inhabitants, the evolution of safeguards legislation, mining and coffee colonization have been crucial in the process.
