The article analize how was the perception produced to the people in the Colombian Caribbean between 1900 and 1950. In despite of the significant role it had as an important connector between Colombia and some other main ports and overseas, this do not avert the geographers, doctors, lawyers and more writers to make negative judgements when studying this region. I maintain that this visualitation was made throught a deterministic analysis of the racial-geographical type that as result, it produced an hostile atmosphere and a devastated race.
