Resumen
OVIEDO-CELIS, Ricardo Andrés y CASTRO-ESCOBAR, Edisson Stiven. A comparative analysis of the sustainability of coffee production system in farms of Santander and Caldas, Colombia. Cienc. Tecnol. Agropecuaria [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.3, e2230. Epub 31-Ago-2021. ISSN 0122-8706. https://doi.org/10.21930/rcta.vol22_num3_art:2230.
The approaches for coffee production in Colombia are diverse in response to the environmental offer of the regions where they are established as the main rural productive activity. Sustainability conditions in economic, environmental, social, and technical dimensions of an agroforestry system in association with other crops and monoculture were analyzed in one municipality of Santander and five municipalities of the department of Caldas. The information was obtained from direct interviews with 81 producers and processed through descriptive statistical and cluster analyses to define the sustainability assessment scale. The results indicate that the agroforestry model impacts the profitability and productivity of the crop compared to the other two models, showing that even being less sustainable in technical and economic terms, it has favorable sustainability conditions in environmental indicators, strategic for climate change adaptation and mitigation in the regions.
