RUEDA, Martha Cristina; RAMIREZ, Ginés Fernando y OSORIO, José Henry. APPROACH TO THE COMMON OPOSSUM BIOLOGY (Didelphismarsupialis). Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.2, pp.141-153. ISSN 0123-3068.
The opossum is included into the marsupial group and is distributed throughout the Americas. South America has a large number of endemic species and the greatest diversity. The present environmental conditions and the lack of knowledge about the importance of this species increases its vulnerability.. In the present review, the evolutionary aspects and main characteristics of the Didelphidae family are analyzed, as well as an approximation to the knowledge of the common opossum biology, a species that has been threatened by urban growing.
