ROJAS-AVILA, Javier  y  VALENCIA-CONTRERA, Miguel Andrez. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES IN RESEARCH ON CRITICAL PATIENTS. pers.bioét. [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.1, e2717.  Epub 13-Sep-2023. ISSN 0123-3122.  https://doi.org/10.5294/pebi.2023.27.1.7.

The critically ill patient is of special importance in the development of research, due to the fact that he/she has lost or had his/her autonomy reduced. The aim of the present study was to identify the ethical principles of Ezekiel Emanuel, as a guide in the development of research in critically ill patients. An integrative review was carried out in the WoS, PUBMED, SCOPUS, SciELO databases, 545 articles were identified, of which eight met the previously defined criteria. The description of Emanuel's eight principles was identified, which proved to be a comprehensive and systematic framework to guide ethical conduct in the population analyzed, with scientific validity being the most described principle in critical patient research, followed by the principle of informed consent.

Palabras clave : Ethics research; ethics; research; critical care; intensive care units; review.
