ALBORNOZ, David A. et al. Usability Testing Software Implementing Mouse Tracking. TecnoL. [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.spe, pp.21-33. ISSN 0123-7799. https://doi.org/10.22430/22565337.1511.
Usability has become a fundamental attribute that defines software quality. According to ISO 9241-11: 2018, a piece of software is usable if it allows users to efficiently, effectively, and satisfactorily achieve objectives in a specific context. The layout of the elements on the screen is one of the factors that affect efficiency the most; therefore, usability tests implementing mouse tracking approach can provide relevant information to optimize user interaction with the system. This article proposes a software system to support usability tests implementing mouse tracking, which analyzes screen areas and tasks in a user test. In addition, the software system can record video clips of users’ sessions for multiple purposes: conduct a detailed analysis of user actions during the test, calculate partial and general statistics, and produce graphic representations. As a result, user interaction with the activities in the test can be examined in depth while using the tool.
