This paper analyzes the effects of crime victimization and the perception of safety on life satisfaction. We estimated an ordered probit model, and results suggest that crime victimization decreased by 1,1% life satisfaction. In addition, an increase in the perception of security for the city and neighborhoods, increase life satisfaction at 7,3% and 1,7% respectively. Further, other groups of variables are included; government satisfaction and the infrastructure of the neighborhood. All of them have a positive relationship with life satisfaction. Finally, results exhibit that the gender does not play an important role in satisfaction, and subjective poverty decreased by 3,8% life satisfaction.
