Introduction:
Patient safety is an issue of great importance in the health care field, so the objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of adverse events in psychiatric patients receiving pharmacological therapy in a mental health IPS in Sincelejo.
Methodology:
Data, for this analysis, were collected and analyzed using the Adverse Events Format from INVIMA, screening guide for IBEAS' study, clinical histories, and London's protocol.
Results:
Adverse events' punctual prevalence was 19% and period prevalence 2,28%. Haloperidol was the drug present in all adverse events not preventable.
Conclusion:
Most of the adverse events are related to causes different from medication and, in some cases, associated with the patient pathology.
