BENAVIDES PUPIALES, Luis Eduardo y BOLANOS DELGADO, Sandra Lucía. INNOVATION BARRIERS IN SMES: AN APPROXIMATION THROUGH A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF LITERATURE. Tend. [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.1, pp.221-237. ISSN 0124-8693. https://doi.org/10.22267/rtend.202101.134.
Innovation is a key factor in the competitiveness of countries and companies. Small and medium-sized companies that do not adopt innovation as part of their core strategy run the risk of not being competitive due to falling behind with obsolete products and processes. Innovative companies are decisive for a dynamic and competitive economy. The purpose of this research is to identify the different barriers that affect the performance of the innovation process in small and medium-sized enterprises - PYMES. To analyze the innovation barriers that PYMES face, a review of the existing literature in different parts of the world, including Colombia, was carried out. The importance of this study derives from the fact that very few studies have explored the question of the factors that limit the innovation processes of PYMES, being a topic that offers guidance for future research in a field that is still emerging.
