DE CARVALHO-DANTAS, Fernanda  y  DE CARVALHO-DANTAS, Claudia. Values Intervening in Nursing Care for Clients with HIV/AIDS. Aquichan [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.1, pp.32-40. ISSN 1657-5997.  https://doi.org/10.5294/aqui.2014.14.1.3.

Objective: The study is designed to analyze the values involved in nursing care for clients with HIV / AIDS. Method: This is social, descriptive and exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The participants/scenario included 23 nurses from three health institutions in the Department of Rio de Janeiro. The data were collected between January 2010 and December 2012, through taperecorded, semi-structured interviews with a pre-established scrip. The research project was subjected to CEP HUAP 279 /09, with CAAE N. 980.0.000.258-09. Results: Four categories emerged from the categorization process. Discrimination, respect, equality and solidarity were the most important values. Conclusion: Each member of the health team must know themselves. This implies reflecting on one's values, beliefs and culture to make sure they do not interfere adversely with the duties nurses perform. By understanding their own values and recognizing the values of others, nurses are able to supply better quality care in a larger dimension that provides HIV carriers and clients with any other pathology dignified attention consistent with the precepts advocated by the profession.
