This article shows partial results concerning a scientific and technological research focused in the generation and management of processes and participatory practices of construction technologies for housing in poor urban sectors. The main objective is to develop alternatives for new building materials, elements and building systems in the context of self-made houses and surroundings in the periphery neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata. Local self-builders and families, neighborhood committees, universities, CONICET, NGO's and private enterprises are involved in the project. As part of a participatory work strategy, progress was made in the design and construction of basic components and elements for floors, walls, plaster and stoves, using materials and construction techniques with earth.
