PAEZ MORENO, Diego Fernando; LEAL MORENO, Vicente Edilson y RESTREPO BURGOS, María. Influence of freeze-thaw cycles in the resistance concrete (Tunja case). Rev. ing. univ. Medellín [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.15, suppl.1, pp.95-110. ISSN 1692-3324.
This article refers to the analysis of a concrete deterioration agent affectation, known as cycle ice - defrosting, which appears in Tunja at time of frosts. It is explained how the phenomenon qualitative and quantitatively affects the concrete in physical and mechanical properties like porosity, absorption, and resistance, as well as in its physical appearance. In the experimentation stage, a group of 24 cylindrical test tubes of concrete was used. Water/cement relation and type fop curing were used as experimentation variables, with them a distribution matrix was proposed. In order to obtain immediate results, a simulation of this process in an accelerated way was made: concrete parts were taken to frosting periods at night and to defrosting periods during the day, at a continuous time in which two environments were used, an artificial one (refrigerator - low temperature) and a natural one (the environment).
