VELASCO-LAITON, YURANI; SANA-PULIDO, WILLIAM y MORILLO-CORONADO, ANA. Agromorphological characterization of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in the Municipality of Chivatá Boyacá, Colombia. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.2, pp.103-116. ISSN 1692-3561. https://doi.org/10.18684/bsaa(18)103-116.
Barley is one of the most important cereals worldwide. In Boyacá, Colombia, its planting areas have decreased, among other causes, due to the lack of outstanding genetic materials. This research aimed was to characterize morphoagronomically 83 accessions from the FENALCE germplasm base collection, in Chivatá, Colombia. A completely randomized block design and the IPGR descriptors were used. It was found that the color of the auricle, the shape of the awn and the growth habit did not show high variability, contrary to the traits associated with yield and the reaction to rust (Puccinia spp.). The first four components explained more than 70% of the variation. In group one, accessions with desirable agronomic characteristics were found: MALTERA 2, MALTERA 5, CB CUCHUQ 163, CB CUCHU L 128, CB XVII MISE 6, CB 195 COS -01-03, CB 117 SULBATE, CB 52 ONSLON, CB 143 PM - 17 X POLA, CB 92 PAX, CB 125 BONANZA, CB 197 COPELAND, CB 184 (PTRIN), CB 84 JUBILANT, CB 38 ROMANTIK, CEBADA L12 NAR, CB CUCHUQ 66, CEBADA L1 5B NAR and CB 221 556-564, which can be taken into account in genetic improvement programs in Boyacá.
