VALDERRAMA, Lorena B.. Youth, Citizenship and Information and Communication Technologies. The Chilean student movement. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2013, vol.11, n.1, pp.123-135. ISSN 1692-715X.
In this article I analyze the massive appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for protesting actions in Chile. In the year 2006, students used ICT as a vital complement to their protests. In this paper, the use of a national questionnaire and an analysis of the technologies most used by the virtual community during the mobilization are presented. Among these, the use of "instant messaging", email and virtual communities to coordinate, inform, and express identification with the movement are discussed. More than a decade of digital public policies, have allowed the Internet to play a key role in the construction and development of student movements, establishing a turning point in the use of ICT in Chile.
