KRAUSKOPF-ROGER, Dina. Intergenerational relationships, emancipation and independence of Chilean students. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.1, pp.75-87. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.17104.
This analytical paper highlights the contemporary transformations in intergenerational relationships, emancipation and independence of Chilean youth who are in their last year of secondary education or the final year of higher education. The methodology involved holding conversation groups in different regions in the country. Relationships with adults tend to be co-figurative and are seen as counter-reference point. Their view of the adult generation is more analytical and, at the same time, in the process of transformation. Unpredictability and uncertainty lead to processes of emancipation and independence that can be reversible and asynchronous. The current moment in history, social polarization and being either a secondary or higher education student are factors that create major differences in the perspectives of how these young people believe their lives will develop.
