The history of Chile is crossed by conflict between modern European culture and indigenous cultures. Linear time imposed by the State-nation has proved to have been irresponsible with Andean indigenous time. This temporality expresses a deep and sustainable «archaic ontology». After the end of the Cold War and Pinochet's post-dictatorship, this proposal becomes urgent face to indigenous political demands and epistemic challenges in the 21^st century. In the «circle of life» these people demand presence, past and future: their own history. This work is the result of a research project at the University of Santiago de Chile on the history and culture of indigenous peoples in Chile in the 20^th and 21^st centuries (FONDECYT 1121083, 2012-2014).
