This article presents a robust documentary analysis of the concepts of human security and multidimensional security, their focus on protecting human rights, differences in the state s role for this purpose, and their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals. It also explores the recent human rights situation in Colombia and the importance of specific indicators to assess and guarantee the protection of human rights. It is concluded that the concepts of human security and multidimensional security share their emphasis on the comprehensive protection of human rights and highlights the contribution of the Sustainable Development Goals for this purpose, as well as of the specific indicators, both for countries and for international organizations that evaluate the guarantee of human rights.
