Resumen
VALLEJO TIMARAN, Darío Antonio et al. Bovine dermal fibrosarcoma: a case report . Ces. Med. Vet. Zootec. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.2, pp.214-223. ISSN 1900-9607.
Fibrosarcomas are tumors of varying frequency in domestic animals, with cats being most affected by them. However, the cases reported in bovines are few and its description is mainly centered on the female reproductive system, at the level of the vagina, where its presentation may be associated to other types of neoplasms. In this report the case of a 4 year old bovine female with a mass located in the left mandibular edge is presented, with an approximate evolution of a month of progressive growth. Through surgical procedure the mass was removed and submitted to the pathology lab of the Universidad de Nariño, with dimensions of 6x9x3cm, skin and hair, regular surface, a whitish color and hard consistency; for processing and routine dying with hematoxylin-eosin stain. The sample was classified as a malignant neoplasm of expansive type derived of spindle cells, therefore differential dying was performed with Masson's trichrome stain for its diagnosis, resulting positive for component collagen fibrosarcoma given the distribution pattern with moderate cellular pleomorphism, nuclear pleomorphism, anisocytosis and low megalocytosis, anisokaryosis and megalokaryosis with 3 mitotic figures in 10 random fields at 400X. Additionally, immunostaining with desmin and vimentin markers was performed to establish the definitive diagnosis, being this the first reported case of this type of neoplasm in the department of Nariño, Colombia.
