Resumen

PINTO-ACERO, YOMAIRA LINEY; ALVARADO-GAONA, ÁLVARO ENRIQUE  y  ALVAREZ-HERRERA, JAVIER GIOVANNI. Application of alpha-naphthalene acetic acid in arracacha (Arracacia xanthorriza Bancroft) suckers. rev.colomb.cienc.hortic. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.2, pp.213-224. ISSN 2011-2173.

In the Arracacia xanthorriza producing areas of Colombia, the increase in production is limited because there is a deficient management of the "asexual seed" (sucker) since selection practices, disinfection and rooting of suckers are not carried out, which generates little uniformity in seedling growth and losses in quality and production. Therefore, the effect of the application of four doses of alpha-naphthalene acetic acid (ANA) (0, 2, 4 and 6 mg L-1) was evaluated on A. xanthorriza seeds, for the Palirrusia, Paliverde and Yema de huevo materials in the municipality of Boyaca, in the department of Boyaca. A completely randomized bifactorial block design was used, wherein the first factor was the arracacha material and the second factor was the ANA doses. Twelve treatments were applied with four replicates for a result of 48 experimental units, using five suckers as an experimental unit, for a total of 240 suckers. The evaluated variables of time of root emission, plant height, root length, root fresh and dry weights and number of leaves showed significant differences between treatments. The highest values were registered with the application of a dose of 2 mg L-1 of ANA in Paliverde and Yema de huevo seedlings, while for Palirrusia, the best results were observed with the dose of 4 mg L-1 of ANA. All treatments without an ANA application showed the lowest values in the variables of root time emission, fresh weight, dry weight and root length.

Palabras clave : rooting; suckers; phytohormones; Paliverde; Palirrusia.
