GONZALEZ, Mercedes; MORALES, Carlos Hernando y SANABRIA, Álvaro. Lactate clearance as prognostic factor in patients with penetrating trauma: Systematic literature review. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2016, vol.31, n.1, pp.34-43. ISSN 2011-7582.
Introduction: Lactate clearance has been shown to be a prognostic factor for length of stay and in-hospital mortality in sepsis, burns, cardiac surgery, trauma, and in patients requiring resuscitative efforts. There are no specific studies looking at its use in penetrating trauma. Objective: To establish if lactate clearance is a predictor of length of hospital stay and mortality in patients with penetrating trauma. Methods: Systematic review of the literature to determine if lactate clearance can predict length of stay and mortality in patients with penetrating trauma. Results: Lactate clearance in trauma patients is not standardized. There is some heterogeneity in the populations and interventions studied in the literature.
