DAVILA-RODRIGUEZ, Lisha Pamela. Social Appropriation of Science and Technology. A Legacy of Meanings. Trilogía. Cienc. Tecnol. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.22, pp.116-136. Epub 15-Dic-2021. ISSN 2145-7778. https://doi.org/10.22430/21457778.1522.
Social appropriation as a concept that constructs meaning in theories, paradigms and great stories makes it possible to observe how the term is used as an agent of particular processes from Hegelian philosophy, psychology, literature, art and even in the field of information and communication technologies. This paper reviews how these meanings impact when related to science and technology as well. This variability of significations allows an interpretation of the legacy of meanings of the term, from which a conceptual proposal arises to understand the social appropriation of scientific and technological knowledge, and its potential for action as an emancipatory factor from the domination, asymmetries and inequalities characterizing certain prevailing systems such as cognitive capitalism.
